Her mother, Sarah Spears Riffe die dwhen she was young, and gr'father, Christopher Riffe raised her andher brother, William Carroll Erwin. (Christopher was a man ofprominance in the area, and had the guardianship papers for the twoyoun g minors.)
She and Austin moved from KY to TX after her children were born inthe Casey Co, KY area.
The name Erwin appears sometimes as Ervin in records.
