As per Patricia Allen's compiliation: "He was listed in VA Soldiersof 1776. (There is a story about a Buford Peyton and wife, nancy, separating over the slavery question. After Buford freed all--then Buford and Nancy returned to each other and moved to Alabama orMississippi where they lived happily ever after. There are facts tosupport this story as note many deeds from Buford to Nancy and manydee ds of freedom given by Buford in Casey Co. grantor and granteerecords. I believe that Mrs. Keesler of IND picked up this story fromthe family in Casey Co., KY. There are many deeds listing: Valentine, Austin, Thomas J., Robinson and Buford Peyton in the 1850's, at whichtime they must've been settling their Mother's estate..."
