He was born August 12, 1923 in Topeka the son of Julius B. and Myrtle M. (Smith) Jacques. He attended Ames Iowa State College, St. Mary's College in San Francisco and Washburn University. He served six years in the Naval Reserve and Army Air Corps. He was employed for over 39 years by the State of Kansas, Department of Transportation. He was married to Louise M. Jacques for 64 years, she passed in October of 2008. Survivors include his children Paul F. Jacques and wife Dawn of Beavercreek, Ohio, Randall J. Jacques of Topeka and Roberta Kern and her husband Creston of Topeka; one brother, Lloyd Jacques of Topeka; five sisters, Elizabeth Bennett of Ridgecrest, CA, Sallie Myer of Topeka, Judy Norris of Paola, Bonnie Conklin of Winchester and Margaret Peterson of Topeka; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death, Marvin and Julius B. Jacques, Jr. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009 at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka. He will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home from 1-7 on Friday where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Family links: Spouse: Louise M.
