  Misc	Edna, Geo and family went to the World's Fair, 1904, and stayed with George's brother Js. R (Bob) and family; then both families moved to Carmi, IL; letter from his daughter, Eva, in 1985, said that Geo's occupations included being a farmer in KY, a buyer of land in OK soon after statehood; he was a manufacturer of patented Japenese sweepers in several cities inc St. Louis; "Mom was a good saleslady." Geo. was also a guard at the McAlester prison for a while. He bought & sold houses and real estate. Then he went into the grocery business for years. He had a varied lot of jobs and moves, but got along well and were well fed. Edna was a teacher in early life. Geor also operated a livery stable at Louisvill, KY before kids were born; also mfgd & sold wallpaper brushes & brooms. Another story from Eva said that he had many tales of his searches for mfg locations & train trips to Liberal, KS. Once the plains were cold & very windy & so desolate that he had the trainment not unload his equipment & bought a return ticket back home to KY. Also had a similar experience (alone) to Winnipeg, Canada. It was so cold that he never left the depot (and stove) to even look for a possible location & returned hom. Eva said "Mom was always holding down the fort at home, awaiting Dad's return."

Goldie, Marguerite, Robert born between 1896 & 1902, Boyle Co., KY; 4. In 1900 Boyle Co., KY census, Dist. 5, in Junction City (on the Lincoln Co. line); also in household was Edna's father and brother, John T and John S.; living near by John E. Booth, from Scotland, other Peytons, Russells and Carpenters. 5. In 1903, living near George's brothers in IL (Decatur); 6. Eva b. St. Louis, MO, 1906; 7. Charles b. Anderson, IND, 1909; and 8. George Jr. b. McAlester, OK, 1913, where family stayed from that point on. In one letter, to me from Goldie, she said she thought the parents had been allotted Indian land. When they moved to Anderson, IND, sometime around 1909, they moved to be near George's mother, Adelia and her second husband, Will Jarvis, who'd earlier moved there from the Casey Co.,/Boyle Co, KY area.
