- He was a surveyor, rugged outdoorsman and early KY explorer, and was "Long Hunter", a band of about 20 men who went into KY area early fall 1769 to trap, hunt and explore. Second trip again 1776 where he built a cabin, cleared a field and raised corn. Apparently he lived his life as a bachelor. Most of the time he signed his name as "Coonrod."
