- Casey Co Deed Book 6, p.? On 13 Jan 1845, Wm Ervin bought 50 acres of land for $20, from George Carpenter. The land lay on the headwaters of the Big South Rolling Fork (near Peyton and Evans properties) and shared a corner with Patton (Peyton sp?) (Wm is 29 and trying to get ahead. per:Tom Evans
Casey Co Order Book 5: William is dead at age 32. On 12 June 1848 Robinsin Peyton, on his own motion was appointed administrator. (Possibly Wm. died of cholera in the early stages of the epidemic that hit KY in 1849.) Next order book lists Ervin name as Irvin.

- Casey Co Will Book 2, p. 44 22 June 1848: Sale bill shows his personal estate sold for $ 100.29.
Buyers included Polly Peyton (his mo-in-law?) the widow of Vincent Peyton, Austin Peyton, Thos Evans, Mrs. Evans (neePatsy Peyton), Robinson Peyton, Geo. Lanham and Granville Johnson. On 3 July 1851, settlement was done, but fate of his farm was unknown.
