By process of elimination and search of Casey, Boyle and Lincoln Counties, Soundex Census searches located the family. The name Russell appeared without two "ls" and the 1860 Census looked like "Rufell" (I was told by a professional genealogist that the English writing often appeared to look like an "f" when in fact there was a double "s" in a name -they would stack part of an s on top of the other.)
1850 Lincoln Co, page 272, listed James F Russel, 39, farmer, Alethia (?), 39, Malinda, 18, G.W, 16, Conrad, 13, J.H., 11, Amanda, 9, M., 7, illegible, /1 & illeg., /1. No real estate or pers prop value listed. They were listed in District 1.
1860 Lincoln Co., p. 108, listed Jas. F. Rufell (the double stacked s), 49, Elethia, 49, Geo W, 26, Conrad, 22, Jacob H, 20, Amanda, 18, Margaret, 16 and Jas. R, 14. (census was to have been taken 1 June)
1860 Census also listed the real estate value of $10500 and pers prop @ $3051.
(With that value, either he is presumed to have had at least 1,000 acres of land or many slaves.)
1870 Lincoln Co, Hustonville, P. 48, James F, 59, Alethia, 59 and George, 35, were the only ones remaining together. Real estate value was listed $730, and pers prop @ $1615.
All births were in KY; Rolll 482, Bk 1, Hustonville.
1880, in Ancestry.com, Lincoln Co. Hustonville listed him wife wife, LETHA. His father was listed as b. in VA. Son, George W also shown in 1880 census, with wife, Edna T... District 70, Hustonville; Fam Hist Lib film # 1254428, NA file #T9-0428, Pg # 273C. Living near them/or with them was also son, Jacob H and family. | RUSSELL, James F. (I1274)
