As per Patricia Allen's compiliation: "He was listed in VA Soldiers of 1776. (There is a story about a Buford Peyton and wife, nancy, separating over the slavery question. After Buford freed all--then Buford and Nancy returned to each other and moved to Alabama or Mississippi where they lived happily ever after. There are facts to support this story as note many deeds from Buford to Nancy and many deeds of freedom given by Buford in Casey Co. grantor and grantee records. I believe that Mrs. Keesler of IND picked up this story from the family in Casey Co., KY. There are many deeds listing: Valentine, Austin, Thomas J., Robinson and Buford Peyton in the 1850's, at which time they must've been settling their Mother's estate..." | Family: BUFORD PEYTON / Nancy PEYTON (F1218)
